According to preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 120,400 tons of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in November last year, reflecting a 48% decrease from the preceding month and a 10% drop compared to the same month a year ago.
Among them, imports from Canada took the largest share, totaling roughly 75,400 tons, marking a month-on-month decrease of 11% and a year-on-year fall of 1%. Other major import sources included South Korea (22,000 tons), the Netherlands (9,600 tons), and Mexico (5,900 tons).
In November 2024, US’ HRC imports were valued at roughly US$94 million, down by 32% month on month and by 11% year on year.
