Japan's steel exports decrease in Jan-Aug y-o-y


According to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's steel product exports approximately 21.3 million tons in the first eight months of 2024, decreasing by 4.2% from last year.

South Korea was the largest destination with roughly 3.22 million tons, dropping by 18.8% yearly. Followed by Thailand (about 2.83 million tons), China (about 1.85 million tons), Taiwan (about 1.22 million tons), and the US (about 805,000 tons).

Japan's steel product exports were around 2.65 million tons in August 2024, declining by 8.4% monthly and decreasing by 5.1% yearly.
