Chinese HRC granted breather, Formosa maintains HRC prices

Vietnam’s Trade Remedies Authority has extended the questionnaire submission date for domestic manufacturing companies and importers in its anti-dumping investigation against hot rolled coil imports from China and India.

The latest authority notification issued on 11 September has provided some relief for imports and allowed them to continue. There were mounting fears among Vietnamese buyers about booking Chinese material because of the prospect of retroactive anti-dumping duties.

The submission deadline has been extended by 30 days to 16 October. “There is still time to safely import October shipments,” a Hanoi trader told on Thursday.

Meanwhile, domestic producer Formosa Ha Tinh maintained on 12 September its non-skin passed HRC prices for November shipments. Its HRC prices, which were reduced by $17/t at end-August to $511-523/t cfr Ho Chi Minh City, depending on tonnage, will still apply.

Prices are the same for SS400/pipe-making grade HRC. The mill's skin-passed SAE 1006 HRC is set at $5/t higher.
